The Junior Marathon is for children 1st through 6th grade (school year 2013/14). Between June and November, participants run or walk a total of 25.2 miles. Special events, starting with the Market Street Mile to be held on June 22, 2013, will be provided to help participants earn some of those miles. Logging Miles

Prior to November 9, 2013 Junior Marathon participants must run and/or walk a total of 25.2 miles. Miles need to be logged, with the help of an adult, using an official Junior Miracle Marathon Mileage log (download in pdf).

Participants may divide up the mileage however they like, although it is suggested that they log a mile at a time. Participants must complete their mileage under adult supervision. Special events to help participants earn mileage will be offered throughout the summer and fall, including the Elementary Cross Country Series. Other events will be posted on this site, so stay tuned.

The Last Mile

On November 9, 2013 participants will jog or walk the last mile of their marathon on part of the actual Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon course. Official Race Number

In order to receive your Official Junior Marathon Race Number, you must (1) Register for the Junior Marathon and (2) complete and log 25.2 miles prior to November 9. At packet pick up, Friday, November 9, we will ask you to present your mileage log, showing the completion of 25.2 miles. At that time, you will receive your official race number, t-shirt, and goody bag. Pin your race number to the front of the shirt you will wear for the Last Mile. Medallions will be given only to those children who cross the finish line wearing an official Junior Marathon race number. We recommend pinning the number on the shirt the night before.
