Making memories on a historical site since 1980.

For the last 43 years, the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon has run through the historic Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park in Northwest Georgia. The park honors one of the Civil War’s most important battles, which we recognize as organizers through the signature cannon shot to start the day.

Since that first race in 1980, we have welcomed more than 51,600 race finishers, 4,175 first time marathoners, and countless future marathoners through our half marathon, 5k and Junior Marathon races.

Add in the many volunteers and spectators in the Race Village and you’ll see why this is truly a community event for the Chattanooga and Fort Oglethorpe region.

_______________

In honor of our race taking place near Veteran’s Day each November, we welcome active and former military members and their families to participate in the event and offer a registration discount to all veterans, law enforcement and first responders.

It is our privilege to host a race that welcomes runners of all abilities – Couch to 5K, run/walk, everyday runners, and elite racers – across a wide variety of ages to experience a bit of history while testing their physical limits and mental fortitude.

Host Organization

The Chickamauga Battlefield Races are organized, staffed and hosted by the Chattanooga Track Club.

Founded in 1970, CTC is a non-profit organization with a simple, yet impactful goal:

Promote running, walking, and overall fitness in the Chattanooga area.

This mission comes to life through a number of activities including weekly group runs, annual road races, youth programs, and social events.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our races would not be possible without our team of dedicated, supporting and encouraging volunteers.

From the pre-event teams organizing & staffing packet pickup to the on-site crew of aid station staff, road sentries, and clean up – we appreciate our community volunteers.

Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate. School credit hours are offered along with “Runner of the Year” volunteer points to members of the Chattanooga Track Club who sign up to help.
