Race Day

Starting Times

Start / Finish Area

The start/finish is located at the 6th Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia (6 Barnhardt Circle).

Getting To The Race

Shuttle buses for race participants will run from the following hotels to the race site between 5:45 a.m. and 6:35 a.m. (EST) and return to the hotels beginning at 1:30 p.m. (EST)(learn more about local hotels):

Please note, these shuttle buses are provided by the race, not by the hotels.

For those driving to the race, parking is available at the 6th Cavalry Museum. To ensure a prompt start of the race, on-site parking closes at 6:45 am (EST). Please arrive before 6:45am if you plan to park on site.

DO NOT park on this road or on the grounds next to any monuments. You will be towed. If parking at businesses or churches close to the Start/Finish, please be respectful of the properties.

St. Gerard Catholic Church, a one block from the start finish area will also provide parking and restrooms. The cost will be $5.00 cash only.

Packet Pick-Up

Marathon, half marathon and 5k packets, including your race number and timing chip, can be picked up:

Runners must show an official photo ID to pick up packet. To pick up packets for other racers please complete the Packet Pickup Authorization Form.

Pasta Dinner

A pasta dinner will be held on Friday, November 8 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm (EST) at the site of the packet pickup (First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethrope at 2645 LaFayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742). The cost is $15 for an adult (13 & over) and $8 for a child (12 & under). Enjoy the smooth bluegrass music of Barefoot Nellie and Company.

Limited On-site Registration

Marathon & Half Marathon: onsite registration will be available Friday, November 8 at packet pickup, only if the marathon & half marathon have not sold out. There will be no day-of-race registration available for the marathon or half marathon.

On-site registration for the 5k will be available at packet pickup on Friday night, November 8 and Saturday morning, November 9.

Bag Check

Before the start of the race, participants may store a bag in the "bag check" area near the start/finish area. Participants should place their belongings in a plastic bag and clearly label the bag with their race number. Please do not check valuables.

Bags will be available for pick-up after the race. Participants will need to show their race numbers to retrieve their bags. Bags that are not retrieved after the race will be thrown out or donated to charity.

Aid Stations on the Race Course

All aid stations on the marathno and half marathon course will have water, PowerAde, fruit and basic first aid. Stations are located at approximate 1.5 - 2 mile intervals on the course.

Portalet bathrooms will be available at approximately miles 4 and 10 for the half marathon and approximately miles 4, 11, 15, and 22 for the marathon.

On the 5k course, an aid station with water and PowerAde will be located at the half-way point going out and back.

Transportation to the finish will be provided to any participant who cannot complete the race. For medical assistance on the course, or transportation to the finish, ask the nearest race volunteer. Professional medical personnel will be stationed at the start/finish line.


As a benefit to marathon and half marathon runners, we offer free pace teams led by experienced pacers for the following times (look for the pace time flags at the race start):

Half Marathon: 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45

Marathon: 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00

Assisting Runners

As a safety precaution, bicycle riders are highly discouraged from accompanying runners on the course. Runners who are not registered in the event should not accompany a participant. Any assistance to a participant, other than that provided at designated aid stations, may lead to disqualification. Disqualified participants will be ineligible for awards.


Family and friends can enjoy the start/finish area and Expo while you run the race.

Free shuttle buses will be provided between the start/finish area and special marathon and half marathon spectator areas within the Battlefield. Buses depart near the start/finish area.

For safety reasons we ask that spectators not drive on the race course. Spectators should not park at the locations where spectator buses make drop offs. Please be observant of no parking sings. Parked cards make it impossible for the busses to turn around.

The best place to watch the 5k and Junior Marathon is at Barnhardt Circle.

Post Race Food

Food and beverage will be provided for race participants at the end of their race. The race expo will have food vendors to accommodate family and friends.


Overall and age group awards will be available for pickup at the awards tent. If you win an award please stop by the tent before leaving the race venue.
